ABOUT US

The Animal Clinic of Paulding was founded in the 1970's by Harold Wilkin, DVM with the vision of creating a medical practice that treats every client and animal with dignity and first-rate care. The Doctors and Vet Assistants at Animal Clinic are highly trained and exceptionally friendly. We understand that for many, visiting a Veterinarian can be a stressful experience. Our comfortable surroundings and compassionate medical professionals will ease your fears.

Our animal hospital strives to improve pet health and longevity by providing for the diagnosis, treatment, prevention of pet injury and disease in the most humane manner, consistent with fiscal responsibility to the pet owner as well as to the hospital.

Dr. Tom V. Wilkin attended Ohio University for undergraduate, majoring in Biology, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. He attended The Ohio State University Veterinary School. Upon graduation, he started at the veterinary practice with his father, Dr. Harold E. Wilkin. Tom has continued to practice in Van Wert. He also continues to practice at the Paulding Animal Clinic in Paulding, Ohio, that his father had started. Tom has an interest in travel, bicycling, and flying. He has four children with his wife that they are immensely proud of!

Dr. Melissa Bowman graduated from Paulding High School with honors in 1988. She received a Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University College of Agriculture’s Animal Science program in 1992 and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. Melissa began practicing in Gahanna, Ohio in a five doctor practice with a focus on internal medicine, surgery, and dentistry. After two years, she returned to Northwest Ohio and began general practice with Doctor Tom Wilkin. Melissa currently is co-owner of the Animal Clinic of Paulding and has provided full-time services for Paulding County since 2004. Melissa volunteers her time to the local dog shelter providing care and medicine when needed and gives advice on animal abuse cases to the Paulding County Sheriff Department. Melissa is a board member of the local Ohio State Alumni Club of Van Wert/Paulding counties, and member of the OVMA, and the AVMA. She is the 2013 award recipient of the Paulding High School Hall of Fame.

Audrey Hanenkratt is the office manager at Animal Clinic of Paulding. She has been with Dr. Wilkin and Dr. Bowman since 2000. She is a 1998 graduate of Wayne Trace High School. Her special interest in veterinary medicine is Dentistry. She resides in Payne with her husband Brion and their dog, Ruby.

Beth Schweinsberg is a Registered Veterinary Technician at the Animal Clinic of Paulding. She has been employed by Dr. Wilkin and Dr. Bowman since March 2008. She is a graduate of Penn Foster College. She has a special interest in canine and feline behavior. Beth is very active in Paulding County 4-H and also works for the county election board. She shares her life and love with her husband, Michael, their five children, and their Boston terrier.

Abigail Adams is a Veterinary Technician at the Animal Clinic of Paulding. She has been employed by Dr. Wilkin and Dr. Bowman since 2017. Abby graduated from the Vet Tech Institute of International Business College in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 2019. She has a special interest in anesthesia. She currently lives in Paulding with her dog, Honey.

Meagan Speice is a Veterinary Technician student at Penn Foster University. She has been employed by Dr. Wilkin and Dr. Bowman since 2019. She has a special interest in veterinary radiology. She currently lives in Latty with her dog, Sophie.

Autumn Kochenour is the Customer Service Representative at the Animal Clinic of Paulding. She has been employed by Dr. Wilkin and Dr. Bowman since January 2023. She currently lives in Paulding with her dog, River.

SERVICES

The Animal Clinic of Paulding offers services for dogs, cats, and pocket pets. These services include disease and medical treatments for various conditions, preventative medicine through vaccinations and parasite medications, surgery, and dentistry. We have onsite digital x-ray and pre-surgical blood screening. All services are provided by appointment.
